Yerk is made by its two co-founders in Berkeley, California: Kamo Aghbalyan, an engineer who spent four years at Krisp and Activeloop, and Alec Leddon, a producer and DJ with 20M+ streams and tours across North America and Europe. Both hold master's degrees from Babson College.

Why
Making music got smarter. Managing it did not. Writing and mixing tools improve every year. The layer underneath, finding a sound and keeping a session safe, is the same folders and manual bounces it was fifteen years ago.
We are producers. We had the drives nobody could search, the projects that would not open in a collaborator's DAW, and the one drive failure that took a year of sessions with it. We went looking for one app that handled all of it and found four that each handled a slice. So we built the one.
So Yerk runs on your machine, because unreleased music does not belong on someone else's server. It never moves your originals, because a tool that reorganizes your library should not be able to break a project. And it says what it skipped, because a tool that looks finished when it is not is worse than no tool.
